All funds raised by the COINS USA Construction Industry Challenge 2008 will directly benefit Capital District Habitat for Humanity (CDHfH).

CDHfH is one of more than 1,600 affiliates of Habitat for Humanity International, located around the world.  Since 1976, these Habitats have built more than 200,000 homes in the United States and in 100 countries around the world, in partnership with over 1 million people in need of simple decent housing.

The families who live in the homes (Homepartners) must invest up to 500 hours of their own labor (sweat equity) into building their house and the homes of their neighbours. As homes are built, so is the community.  Homepartners pay back the cost of their homes through low cost, non profit mortgages. All repayments go into a revolving fund to pay for more homes to be built. A Habitat for Humanity home is a hand up – not a hand out.  They are now building at such a rate that every 21 minutes, another family moves into a simple decent home and begins a new life of hope, dignity and opportunity.
