Construction Industry Summit!

More than four hundred people from the construction industry found themselves gathered at the foot of Snowdon for the reception of the 6th annual COINS 3 Peaks Challenge, celebrating a magnificent industry success in raising over £430,000.00 in support of humanitarian projects.

‘Construction Industry success in raising over £430,000 in support of humanitarian projects’

Funds raised by the construction industry will build: more than two hundred Habitat for Humanity homes in Africa with matched funding provided by USAID, renovations and extensions to six schools in Zambia with CARE International the humanitarian organization and a day clinic, onsite accommodation or a play room for patients of CURE International, orthopaedic hospital in Lusaka, Zambia.

Extec along with COINS customers Castleoak, Geoffrey Osborne, Skanska and Weston Homes all led the field in the highest fundraising stakes, between them amassing more than twenty five percent of the overall fundraising total. Stephenson Group, a first time entrant, was particularly proud to achieve the highest individual team fundraising amount. All will receive places on the COINS sponsored trip next spring to visit projects in Zambia or Uganda.

Extec really stole the day by also romping home first in a winning time of 20hrs 32mins, not far outside the event record of 20hrs set by Multiplex in 2004. In 2nd place was Shepherd Construction, 3rd place Raymond Brown and 4th place Rose Builders.

At the time of going to print more than thirty teams had already signed up for the 2009 event.
