Expanding Offshore

Back

In two recent moves, COINS has expanded its overseas development capabilities to maintain cost effective and value added benefits for its world-wide client base.

As part of the acquisition of Shaker last year COINS inherited a contracting out relationship with Softserve in Lviv, Ukraine. Founded in 1993 and with over 900 staff, Softserve is the largest software development company in the Ukraine. The relationship with Shaker started in 1998 and has involved Softserve in supporting many of the key projects on COINS Ti.

Under the new relationship a dedicated team in Lviv will continue to support US users of COINS Ti.

In addition to Lviv, a new facility has been established in Vitebsk in Belarus to provide support to the existing development centre in St Petersburg which now has over 20 development staff assigned to work directly with the various COINS development teams based in Slough.

These two new facilities bring the total working offshore on COINS OA modules to over 40, most of whom have at least a Masters degree in computing, mathematics, engineering and other science subjects.

Belarus and Ukraine were chosen for expansion of COINS offshore facilities because of the continuing advantage this part of the world has for UK companies over other offshore centres such as India and China in culture, skills, project management, educational achievements, problem solving and analysis rather than simply traditional programming.
