Temporary village post-Tsunami. At COINS we believe we are privileged and with this comes a sense of duty and responsibility to care about those who are impoverished and less privileged. The aim of the newly established COINS Foundation is to fund projects that offer relief to vulnerable and disadvantaged people and communities both in the UK and internationally. The foundation will also focus on the relief of suffering among victims of natural disasters. Grants will be made available to organisations that can demonstrate that the investment can tangibly improve the lives of many, in a sustainable way. Projects therefore should also focus on empowerment, helping people to help themselves independently. In particular, projects with a strong focus on construction, education and technically innovative projects for learning and enablement. The COINS Foundation is a grant making body; its administrative costs are fully met by COINS. This makes it quite unique - 100% of funds raised by the COINS Foundation will go directly to projects.
Registered Charity Number: 1122148 The COINS 3 Peaks Challenge is the major fundraising event for the COINS Foundation. It is a classic mountain challenge exclusively for the construction industry, which involves teams climbing the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales within 24 hours. The event has grown from strength to strength over the last five years and has involved more than 180 construction teams who have raised £1.2 million for CARE International UK. In 2008 funds raised by the COINS 3 Peaks Challenge will be distributed by the COINS foundation. The distribution of funds will be ‘restricted’ to specific projects managed by CARE International, Habitat for Humanity and Stepping On - the projects must also meet the aims and criteria of the COINS Foundation. www.coins3peakschallenge.com |
