Weston Group was formed in 1987 by Bob Weston – coincidentally the same year as COINS. Since then it has grown rapidly and its portfolio of new build products include prestige developments predominantly in London and the Home Counties. The Company has specialised from the outset in the regeneration of brownfield sites becoming a leader in this area of development.

 As well as the coincidence of their ‘birthday’, the two companies share something more significant in their support for community-based, social responsibility initiatives.

Weston has its own major fund raising event, the annual golf day in support of the St Clare Hospice. The Hospice is a registered charity, based in West Essex, which cares for people and their families who are affected by life threatening incurable diseases.

 The last event took place in October on three courses in Essex, followed by a Gala dinner in the evening with afterdinner entertainment from comedian Frank Carson. The event raised over £70,000, a record amount, and COINS were delighted to be part of this.

 Weston has entered teams in every year of the COINS 3 Peaks Challenge and this year was no exception. As 5th highest fundraiser Weston were also awarded a place to join the COINS’ sponsored trip to Zambia or Uganda to see projects directly supported by funds raised. Previously two of Weston’s staff travelled to India with other COINS clients as part of a 13 strong team visiting CARE projects, including post-tsunami reconstruction projects and micro credit schemes.

 Stuart Thomas, Weston’s Finance Director explains it thus: ‘COINS and Weston share not just the fact that both businesses were founded in 1987; we are also both rapidly growing and highly successful in our chosen sectors. We share a common belief that taking social responsibility seriously is important.

I am certain that the two companies will continue to work closely and successfully together for many years to come.’
