Fifteen teams took part in the inaugural USA COINS 3 Peaks Challenge on September 19-20, 2009, pledging $60K for the COINS Foundation (see Building Schools, Hospitals and Homes below). Modelled after the successful COINS 3 Peaks Challenge in the UK, the USA challenge involved climbing three of the highest peaks in the Northeast within twenty four hours: Mount Mansfield, Mount Monadnock, and Whiteface Mountain. The challenge offered a great teambuilding experience, provided networking opportunities with industry peers and most importantly helped people in need.

Industry teams that were the top fundraisers or had the fastest times were honoured at the finish line. Top fundraisers were The Pike Company, The Brickman Group and EMCOR Mechanical Services. The quickest industry teams over the finish line came from Einhorn Yaffee Prescott, W.M. Schultz Construction and The Pike Company.

The COINS 3 Peaks Challenge is fully funded by COINS. Every dollar raised goes directly to projects supported by the COINS Foundation. Since its inception seven years ago in the UK, the COINS 3 Peaks Challenge has touched more than 15,000 people in the construction industry and raised over £1.8 million for worthwhile community projects.
