COINS can now offer grantfunded, accredited National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) training to customers, having established a strong working partnership with John Laing Training, following the recent acquisition of a majority shareholding in the company. Employee training will enable clients to strengthen tenders with a fully qualified workforce, whilst taking advantage of potential government funding.

Delivering training through ‘Train to Gain’, the government-backed initiative aimed at up-skilling the employed work force, John Laing Training is contracted with the Learning and Skills Council to deliver fully accredited training. NVQ levels 2 and 3 are offered in trade areas, such as Plastering and Bricklaying, plus a wide range of Supervisory Management and Skills for Life, such as literacy and numeracy. Training is delivered on-site where, after initial analysis of individual training requirements, eligibility for free training is identified. This grant-funded training is available for employees who have been working in the UK for a minimum of three years and for whom it is their first NVQ Level 2 qualification. An employer contribution is required for Level 3 qualifications. An on-site Assessor provides tailored support and the process only takes two to three months, enabling minimum disruption to business.

John Laing Training assists in drawing down the grant levy and can provide employers with a full administration service to ensure that the benefit of this financial support is maximised. Courses can be developed as individual programmes, one-to-one on site, as group training or even as distance learning and include the CSCS Card scheme.
