Strategic HRIS requirements

The COINS OA Human Resources comprehensive personnel management system is now being used by Air Systems Inc. to manage its 269 employees. Air Systems is the first of fourteen EMCOR Mechanical Services (EMS) companies to go live on OA Human Resources. Over 2,800 EMCOR employees will be managed in OA when EMS finishes rolling out the system across its entire division.

Within the fourteen companies that make up EMS, there are various levels of experience with Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS). Several companies had no previous experience with HRIS, while others used a mix of online and manual tracking. This made corporate level HR reporting and compliance difficult and time consuming.

Heather Kish, SPHR, Vice President, Human Resources for EMCOR Mechanical Services noted: "One of the main advantages of implementing OA HR is the ability at the corporate level to pull data from our companies according to different requirements: for all companies, a combination of companies, or a single company." As the remaining EMS companies move to COINS Human Resources, it will provide a single point of access to standardized personnel information across all companies.

At the site level, EMS sought to automate functions and eliminate data entry in multiple spreadsheets or applications. The ability to track and report on benefits, training, qualifications and assessments across multiple companies securely via web-enabled access are chief advantages of COINS HR. Air Systems and its fellow EMS companies will also benefit from HR’s employee-centric workbenches, which provide convenient and efficient access to employee data and benefits information. They will save time and effort with the ability to mass-update benefits, training, and other personnel records. Other OA features include integrated document management and flexible reporting, with the ability to "dig deeper" using a variety of reports - standard, ad hoc, or configurable.

Five EMS companies are already live on COINS HR or have begun the implementation process.
