COINS Supports Remote Working for Campion Homes

We caught up with Susan Jackson, Joint Managing Director to find out how COINS has helped their business operate remotely.
Q: When did you make the move to COINS Construction Cloud?
We made the move to COINS Construction Cloud almost a year ago going live on 1 July 2019. We realised that to grow our business a major change was needed, to transform our processes, construction technology and systems. We needed one source of the truth - now data goes into COINS once and is accessible across so many different parts of the system by a variety of users.
Q: What’s been the impact of construction lockdown?
The impact of the sudden construction sector closure on 23 March 2020 in Scotland as a result of the coronavirus has been huge; however we have seen unexpected benefits from moving to a cloud-based construction solution, with data being easily accessed from anywhere via a range of devices – from mobile phones to tablets and computers.
Q: How has COINS supported remote working?
We would have ground to a halt as a business without COINS; we could not have worked our old systems remotely. Everyone working on COINS commercial, finance and payroll has been able to seamlessly work from home.

Q: What operational changes have you made?
At the height of the shutdown Campion Homes were able to operate with a reduced team of only ten people and six directors. Prior to COINS we would have been unable to manage with such a small team – so COINS has definitely saved us money during this difficult period.
COINS Construction Cloud has enabled Campion Homes to work in such a way that anybody interacting with us during this period would not have noticed any difference – enabling us to give out the clear message that we are still very much open for business.
From a finance perspective we would have really struggled had we not been using COINS. During the lockdown period, the finance team have been able to almost seamlessly convert to a paperless way of operating and COINS has been absolutely integral to that.
Q: How has COINS helped you to collaborate?
COINS dovetails very well with Teams and Zoom which allows collaboration via sharing screens in virtual meetings – allowing us to talk others through any issues.
Web-based access to the system has allowed us to work remotely from each other and yet be fully aware of what others have been doing. COINS has also forced us to adopt a more standardised approach which allows us to pick up on the work of others more easily.

Q: What are the longer-term benefits?
The finance team are planning to continue their new paperless way of working into the future – this is a change which could have taken months to achieve but with the support of COINS has been very easy to implement.
