Meet the Team - 5 Minutes with Steve Lount

We caught up with Steve Lount, Project Manager with the COINS UK Delivery team, to find out more about his role.
Steve has worked in the construction industry for over 20 years including 8 years as a COINS Project Manager, where he has managed client implementation projects ranging from large new implementations to smaller implementation/change management projects. Prior to COINS he worked as a Group IT-IS Manager, responsible for IT & Business Systems, for a major construction firm where he was at the forefront of IS and IT service delivery including implementation of the COINS integrated ERP system.
What does your job entail?
I manage COINS implementation projects for new clients and change management / continuous improvement projects for existing clients. This incorporates end-to-end management of a project lifecycle from the Project Commence to Project Closures such as project scoping, project planning, managing the project RAID log (Risks, Actions, Issues, Decisions) and change control. Constant communication with the customer is key throughout.
What is a typical day like?
To be honest there is no typical day. Every project and client is different. Broadly I’ll deal with project management activities such as communicating with project stakeholders; managing people, teams and resources; reviewing RAID logs and Change Controls logs; conducting Activity and Resource planning; as well as attending meetings and workshops.
What's a common question you get from customers?
When can I have ‘something’ delivered, whether the ‘something’ be related to COINS software or resources.
What do you like most about your job?
Variety is the spice of life and the job encompasses different challenges every day – every customer and project has its own unique challenges.
What do you see as the next trend/technology that will have the biggest impact on the construction sector? Transformation into a more digital era ‘Digital Construction”. From 3D design using BIM to using drone cameras to get up-to-date footage of construction site works. Construction is traditionally quite an old-fashioned industry but is now changing.
What’s the most recent app you’ve downloaded?
COINS Expenses App (is that sad?) because I am managing both an internal and client project to implement the COINS Construction Cloud Expenses module.
