Project Details
Darren Aldridge, Group Supply Chain Manager at Keltbray, who has been responsible for delivering these strategic improvements to e-Commerce, describes the key challenges and benefits.
Why is e-Commerce important to Keltbray?
e-Commerce is important to Keltbray as it creates efficiencies, not just within the Keltbray Group, but also across the whole supply chain.
The Keltbray business now consists of 26 different business units across the Group, and they are aiming to create a 'one Keltbray' approach, whereas all business units work seamlessly together.
e-Commerce supports this approach as it reduces time in transactional processing from the beginning of the process, from a requisition being raised on site, all the way through to an invoice being paid.
It saves back-office costs, which is huge for us within Keltbray.

What have the main barriers been for implementation?
A key challenge on implementing e-Commerce across Keltbray has been change management, ensuring that everyone, whether they are based on-site or in the office, understands the efficiencies that can be created.
Time-Saved with e-Commerce
Since implementing COINS e-Commerce solutions, Keltbray have successfully streamlined the procurement team’s data-entry processes, with an impressive time saving of 6 to 8 hours every week.
Keltbray have also reduced the amount of time that highly-experienced buyers spend on raising low-value orders. Since implementing e-Commerce software, call-off orders are now raised on-site, with no-touch (electronic) purchase orders feeding directly into the COINS ERP platform.
e-Commerce is creating huge efficiencies for Keltbray and we now have more time to focus on high level strategic processes.

Supplier Benefits
The main benefit of e-Commerce to suppliers is the development of closer working relationships between themselves and Keltbray, resulting in improved accuracy and efficiency when processing orders and invoices, and ultimately faster payment of invoices.
We try and set up strategic relationships with suppliers, with e-Commerce supporting us in the setting up of service level agreements or trading agreements. So, it's easy to get them onboard.

Key Achievement
Since implementing COINS e-Commerce software in the last two years, Keltbray have converted an impressive 40,000 paper invoices to electronic, which equates to nearly 50% of invoices received by the Keltbray Group.
We’ve have been using COINS e-Commerce technology for the last two years and have had ongoing support from COINS throughout that whole process, from beginning to end.
