Dream big! 2019 COINS Grand Challenge is open for entries

Dream big! Make your idea a reality by entering the Grand Challenge and help to construct a better future!
The COINS Grand Challenge is a global competition focused on new and emerging technology in the built environment, to make the world we live in safer, more accessible, easier to use, more sustainable, and more energy efficient. We hope to facilitate the development of ideas that have the power to change our industry and the world we live in. And we know that’s a vision we share with you.
Now in its fourth year, the COINS Grand Challenge contains two competitions, Undergraduate and Open , each with the same New & Emerging Technology challenge for the built environment: to make the earth a better place to live. The Undergraduate competition is exclusively for current university undergraduate students. The Open competition allows entries from anyone over the age of 18, including students.
The COINS Grand Challenge looks for ideas about how technology could be applied to the built environment in the future, either during construction or throughout the built life cycle; for example to improve energy efficiency, minimize waste, reduce costs, or improve safety.
Prizes include £115k/$150k business investment, R&D grants, cash awards, career-enhancing opportunities, paid internships and funding towards further education. The finalists will enjoy expense-paid travel to Manchester, UK for the final judging on 12 June 2019, where they will describe their ideas to some of the best people in the construction industry. Visit the COINS Grand Challenge website to learn about the winners and finalists of our past Grand Challenge competitions.
Robert Brown , Challenge Chairman and COINS CEO, comments: “The competitions are open to undergrads, postgrads, recent grads, young entrepreneurs or people already in industry – anyone who is over 18 and has a relevant idea. Maybe your discipline is architecture or engineering, construction or project management, sustainable development, computer science… the list goes on and on. If it can be applied to the construction industry, then we want to hear about it.”
The competition is now open for entries and the deadline for entries is 12 April 2019. For more information and to enter the COINS Construction Industry Grand Challenge, please visit http://coins-grandchallenge.com/
