The first consideration is: What are your company's reasons for moving to a cloud-based solution? The second is: How many of these reasons need to be met in order for the business to move forward? Cloud can mean something different to different people, so defining what it means to your company and its goals will help when evaluating vendors.
Cathy listed some of the benefits that can be attained by moving to a cloud-based accounting software solution, including: reduction in IT capital spend, built-in disaster recovery and business continuity, reduced procurement and solution delivery time frames.
Many of today's leading contractors already host their servers in data centers. Taking this to the cloud is a natural next step. With accounting being a main system in your organization, it is worth considering a vendor that can house your other systems in the cloud as well.
