“It is important we are at the leading edge of our industry and we see the adoption of COINS as a forward thinking move to change our business culture” says Mike Miller, Senior VP.
Southland Industries is a design-build-maintain mechanical firm that provides full in-house engineering, construction, energy, and facility maintenance services. The business goal is to be a 100% Design-Build-Maintain company with initiativesfor better use of information technology including business systems and Building Information Modeling.
Southland went through a 12 month selection process and COINS was selected ahead of other Tier 1 vendors. Jessica Kelley, Southland Implementation Manager states “COINS was the obvious choice after the Request For Proposal and Demonstration phases when we heard from our users that “COINS speaks our language” and because they have a similar culture to Southland in their desire to be Best in Class, a great company to work for, and to become a partner with their Clients. COINS is proving this to be true by bringing Southland into their product development process.”
The initial project is to implement the COINS contracting and service solution for 65 concurrent users, including the roll out to 200 named users, 50 mobile service users and an end-user training program, across all four office locations.
Southland Industries was founded in 1949 as a Long Beach based supplier of residential heating solutions to the Southern California market. Southland has expanded its services exponentially through the years. Today, they are one of the USA’s largest mechanical contractors with office locations in Garden Grove, CA (Southern California Campus), UnionCity, CA (Northern California Division), Las Vegas, NV (Southwest Division) and Dulles, VA(Mid-Atlantic Division) and provides full design, construction, fabrication, service and maintenance for HVAC, process piping, plumbing, fire protection, controls and automation.”
